The Srbanes monastery (St.Hovhannes or Hovhan Odznetsu monastery) of 8-17cc., is located in the Lori district at the north-western edge of the Ardvi village. There are remnants of the two smaller sized churches: a bell-tower, a square obelisk, some dwellings and other economic structures. There is a grave-stone of Cathollicos Hovhannes Odznetsi by the altar. Next to the western wall, a vaulted hall was added. Inside the southern hall many tombs are laying around. Churches were built with small uneven andesite pieces, excluding the three rows of the north-eastern wall, which was built with large shaved stones. Churches were built at various times. The northern church belongs to an earlier construction period, as opposed to the whole complex. Presumably it was reconstructed in 17c when other monuments were built. There is a cemetery on the western hill with grave-stones and cross-stones.
Paradjanov’s film, «The color of Pomegranate» was filmed at this famous setting.
